Alla Dzhigirey

Alla Dzhigirey was born in Leningrad in 1964. Since her childhood her father, who was a professional artist, and her mother encouraged her early passion for art.

She studied in Ioganson Secondary Art School, and afterwards in the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin. After finishing the faculty of architecture and restoration, she had worked by profession for 3 years.

She was engaged in the restoration of Pavel I room in Gatchina palace, that's way she was jad been able to join the Union of Architects. After she finished this restoration project, she stopped her architectural activity and began engaging in painting and drawing.

Since then she has illustrated around 10 books, participated in more than 200 Russian and foreign exhibitions, competitions and festivals of art.

Together with Boris Zabirohin, she is the organisastor of a creative association "Children of Arkhip Kuindzhi."

Since the artist's childhood, she was influenced by the masters of early Renaissance. Even now we can see the influence of Paolo Uccello and Fra Beato Andzheliko in her concise, unadorned and ascetically decorated compositions.

As she states, her creative goal is achieving pure form, transfering of emotion through color, creating an image, which approaches the "-" sign. So, the unique style of Alla Dzhigirey is born from the precepts of French Impressionism, Italian Renaissance and Malevich' ideas of synthesis of the arts.
