Anton Borodaev

Architectural graphics emerged in the 15th century. A significant part of German architectural expressionism "grew" from these "paper" projects. At the same time in Russia, Yakov Chernihov created his "architectural fantasies", which anticipated computer graphics in the 1930-s. The works of Anton Borodaev belong to the same art tradition – graphic portraits of modern megapolises, collective images populated with recognizable symbols and commercial iconography. Contrast scales and contradictory combinations, active color, mixed media (watercolor, oil and acrylic fluorescent) quite meet aesthetics of the big cities. Vitality and energy, outright vulgarity, hypertrophied signs in colorful neon, which largely determined the images of New York and Tokyo, have developed here into this complicated order in which you can feel the pulse of life and the city's rapid breath.

"Fashion illustrations of this young artist are not limited to a shit of paper. Anton paints objects of interior design, cars, develops prints for designer shirts. Our gallery presents several of Anton's art pieces, which resemble collages made of fashion images: mosaic of celebrities surrounded by seductive beauties and luxurious cars.

Subtle irony, complexity of scenes, easy drawing, diluted by delicate watercolors - this is what distinguishes Anton's canvases from the traditional fashion illustration."
